Transition and Destinations

Transition

Choosing the next placement for your child can be very stressful for both pupils and parents alike- particularly if your child has been at Lancasterian since nursery. It is our aim to make this tranistion as smooth as possible for your family.

Many of our pupils can't wait to move on to a 'more grown up' college and enjoy the transition days during the summer term. For those who need more transition days, we can arrange bespoke visits to ensure that every young person gets to know their new college and staff team before making their transition.

We have a graduation at the end of the summer term to celebrate our year 11s- their successes and next moves! See our Twitter and Facebook feeds for the most recent photos!

Destinations

At the beginning of year 11 there will be opportunities to visit Post 16 settings in order to inform your decisions around selecting the most appropriate placement for your child. We endevour to find the most local college or 6th form provision that is able to meet your child's individual needs.

There are 4 special schools which have 6th forms and we have successfully placed pupils in all of them over the years:

North Manchester: North Ridge High School

Central Manchester: Melland High School

South Manchester: Piper Hill High School

Pioneer House High School

Mainstream Colleges with SEND provision

There are 2 6th form colleges which have SEND provision and we have successfully placed pupils in all of them over the years:

Loretto College

Xaverian College

For more information or support, please ring the school and ask to speak to Bethan Glenn, lead for transitions and support.
