About LOIS

LOIS is an outreach service offered by Lancasterian School in South Manchester.

LOIS provides advice, support and training to mainstream schools in Manchester to enable them to effectively meet the needs of pupils with medical needs and physical disabilities aged 4-16 in school.  LOIS supports RHOSEY to assess the seating needs of pupils in EYFS settings. LOIS offers Moving and Handling training to all Manchester settings.

The team consists of Anita Walker (Assistant Head and Outreach Lead Teacher, Claire Hopkinson (Lead TA Medical and PD), Ben Dixon (Lead TA Moving and Handling) as well as having access to OT and Pysiotherapist support.

LOIS accepts referrals from schools with the consent of parents.  The criteria for accessing LOIS support is that the pupil has a diagnosed medical condition or is undergoing investigations likely to lead to a diagnosis.  Cases are dealt with on a priority basis according to need.

Although LOIS does not accept referrals directly from parents or healthcare professionals we do encourage them to pass on information about us to the child’s school and request that a referral is made by the SENCO.
