Dave Calvert - Head Teacher

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the Head Teacher of Lancasterian school.

For your information, I am 48 years old, married with 2 sons, the eldest has significant learning, physical and visual difficulties. Darren who is 20 is currently at Henshaws College near Harrogate on a Further Education specialised course. Josh, who is 18, is completing a Public Services course at Ashton 6th Form College. We live in Denton, Manchester.

Previously I was Head Teacher at Park Lane School in Macclesfield, Cheshire for 12 years. Like Lancasterian school, Park Lane was judged in 2007 by Ofsted as an “Outstanding” school and had Specialist School status for Communication & Interaction. (Lancasterian has gained specialist school status in the SEN area of Communication & Interaction from September 2009)

Lancasterian has very high standards and values for the pupils and staff. Lancasterian school is rightly proud to be working alongside the Local Authority in delivering Manchester’s Travel Training programme and managing the Independence (residential) Development Service (IDS – Based on Abraham Moss site) again on behalf of the City of Manchester.

Lancasterian also plays a leading part in the development of expertise in the field of Acquired Brain Injury.

In addition, Lancasterian is also leading the work within the LA regarding development of specialism/expertise in Augmentative, Alternative Communication strategies (AAC)

I am delighted to be a part in the Lancasterian school team and encourage you (if you don’t already do so) to get to know more about the school, its constituent parts and of course share in the learning and work of the pupils we teach.

I look forward to meeting you in the coming months.

Regards,

Dave Calvert
