Occupational Therapy
![]()
The aim of the Lancasterian school’s OT department is to enable our pupils to become as independent as possible, both in school and at home. Our occupational therapists work alongside our physiotherapists, nurse and the speech and language department to put together a programme of activities and exercises for children to carry out at home and at school to improve balance, posture and general mobility.
If you have any questions for our occupational therapists, they will be more than happy to discuss them with you.
Rachel Chapman (Occupational Therapy Teaching Assistant) and Caroline Murphy (Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist) are employed by the education service. We work with the pupils who attend Lancasterian school and the Barrier Free Partnership.

Our role includes promoting the independence of pupils in all aspects of their daily lives. This can include any of the following areas: dressing skills, eating skills, personal care tasks, fine motor skills, pre-writing and handwriting skills, scissor skills, perceptual skills, postural seating needs and computer access assessments. Following an initial referral and assessment we work with pupils on both an individual and/or group basis working on their specific therapeutic program. This may include the provision of specialist adaptive equipment.
