Specialist Services

Lancasterian is a specialist school for Special Educational Needs (SEN) under the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.  To acquire SEN specialist status at Lancasterian through the Specialist Schools Programme, we have become a recognised centre of excellence for communication and interaction.

Essentially, all specialist schools must teach a broad and balanced curriculum, meeting the standards of the National curriculum.  Also alongside this balanced curriculum, Lancasterian will provide enriching opportunities in communication and interaction ensuring that the curriculum is accessible to children with all levels of disability.

The aim of Lancasterian and the SEN and Disability Division of Education Authorities is that every child with special educational needs reaches their full potential in school and can make a successful transition to adulthood and the world of further and higher education, training and work.

Lancasterian Specialist School for Communication and Interaction has a range of resources enabling children to develop and learn. These include Independent Development Services, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language, and specialist assessors.
